FAQs

What is TandemStride?

TandemStride is a trauma recovery support platform that helps patients and caregivers navigate life after injury. Through our app, users gain access to personalized tools, peer mentorship, and TandemGuides—a program offering one-on-one recovery support during the early stages of healing.

How are mentors selected and trained?

Mentors are trauma survivors who apply to support others. Each one is vetted and trained in trauma-informed care. They’re not clinicians, but they bring empathy, perspective, and the kind of support that only lived experience can provide.

How do I get matched with a mentor?

When you sign up for the app, we’ll ask a few questions about your recovery experience. Based on your responses, we’ll match you with a trained peer mentor who’s been through something similar and is ready to support you.

What if I don’t have a visible injury?

You still belong here. Many types of trauma are non-visible—emotional, neurological, or otherwise. Whether or not your injury is visible, your healing is valid, and this community is for you.

Can caregivers use the app too?

Absolutely. Caregivers can explore recovery resources, follow patient progress, and receive guidance, if their loved one is enrolled through a partner hospital. We’re here to support the whole support system.

What is TandemGuides?

TandemGuides adds a dedicated layer of recovery support beyond peer mentorship—providing hands-on help navigating the complex realities of life after hospitalization. While grounded in clinical insight, the program addresses more than medical care: it’s built to solve for the social, emotional, and logistical challenges that make recovery harder than it needs to be. From fast access to therapy to finding housing support or getting to your next appointment, TandemGuides supports with practical help and quick access to care—walking with you through the moments that matter most.

Is TandemStride only available through a hospital or insurance provider?

No. Anyone can download and use the TandemStride app on their own. However, access to TandemGuides is only available through participating hospitals or insurance partners. If you're eligible, you'll be introduced to your TandemGuides navigator after enrollment.

Is the app free to use?

Yes. The TandemStride app and its core features—like peer mentorship, recovery tools, and community resources—are completely free for patients and caregivers. If you're enrolled in the TandemGuides program, that service is covered through a participating hospital or insurance partner at no cost to you.

Will my information be kept private?

Yes. Your privacy and safety are top priorities. All communication is encrypted, and you decide what to share, and with whom. You can opt out of mentorship or communication at any time.

How do I become a mentor?

If you're a trauma survivor who wants to give back, we’d love to hear from you. You can express interest through the app or by contacting us. We’ll walk you through the next steps.
